Just a general q on craigslist. Is it ok to post the same ad on craigslist every day? Or, are there any restrictions?

    No.

If everyone did that, it would be a mess.

What about different cities? Is that allowed?

There are limits on Craigslist. You can post one ad, then if you want to post a similar ad the next day you will need to change the wording so the ads are not identical.

I have used Craigslist to advertise my site and have had some success with it. They have certain rules, as does everything, that you need to follow.

Create and account with them, this helps make the posting quicker and easier.

For on single ad, you can get away with posting it ONCE every 4 days or so in the US without having it automatically removed. If you want to post more often and/or in more cities, you need to change up the wording to make it appear unique. Also, having a craigslist account for each ad will help alot. Keep in mind, that their system really tries to emphasis local ads, so mentioning the city you are posting to with help keep it from being removed too.

If you are advertising something that you are linking to like another website, having the same link in all you ads will get them removed too. Using a free service like tinyurl.com to give each of your ads it's own unique link will also help.

the key to success on craigslist is using broad words
that they couldn't filter out because too many people
    are using them and non-repetitiveness.

You can learn more about this at easyadforum.com

It's the best craigslist forum I've ever come across
and they really keep up to date on the latest craigslist

I have found that creating 4 or 5 different posts (advertisements) with different wording has worked well. I post them across several cities and update them once a week. Surprisingly I still get traffic on the post that are 6-7 days old. I would recommend targeting several cities in your demographic.
