Craigslist phone verification for posting in ALL service categories now?

    From my experience today, Craigslist is now requiring phone verification for posting in all Service categories (including "Real Esate", "Creative", "Computer"...). It was just the erotic section and now it looks like its slowly going to be all of the Service section.

    I think a phone verification is fairly good to kick out spammers and fraud members.

    Good tactic for CL to weed out the spammer's on there. I wouldn't be surprised to see other site's start doing this as well

    It's doing more than weeding out spammers, it's killing jobs for people who actually make a legitimate living off CL. I'm a freelance web designer and I post ads in the computer services section. Yes, in multiple cities, but only once every four days. Hardly spamming.

    I used to make most of my income off of CL jobs, and now I'm going to be out of work if I can't find a way around this. Finding free disposable numbers is not as easy as one might think.

    Wow, that sounds somewhat discouraging. I know I wouldn't bother with it - it sure does open up the door to another player, as well. I understand their business reasons for it, but from an advertiser standpoint, it is annoying.
