Craiglist - What is the point?

There are a lot of people stating that they will list your business in craiglist for a fee. Why?

Is it SEO friendly and if so is it really of any great benefit?
Surely anyone can place a listing so I presume people are selling this service to those that can not be bothered to place their own listing?

Craigslist gets thousands of views daily from all over the world. People hire posters to post hundreds of post every day. It is meant for people who have websites that offer services or sell products. They post there service or items all over to make sure people see them. They also post a link to there website to get visitors.

Some say that they get tons of traffic from it.

    Hope this helps

Craigslist is currently the 11th most visited website in the US according to Alexa. That's why people advertise there it is huge!

Craigslist doesn't have a "network wide" way to make a posting. I suppose these people are offering to create duplicate posts for each regional craiglist's site. That's a pretty tedious thing to do, as they have some technical measures in place to find duplicates. Requires something like article spinning where each post is unique enough to slip under the radar.

That's against the Craigslist TOS, but I can see why someone might pay for that kind of work.
