Agreed. CraigsList will stay on top until they start across the board charging for ads and then people will look for the another free option. The only real threat would be Google's Classified, their advantage is that they could give preferential search engine results to their own classified ad program.
Honestly craigslist is father and mother of online classifieds, nobody could beat them yet. There are tons of new classified ads sites also. And my site is one of them you can try. http://www.webcosmo.com Some features of this site: ------------------------- - Offering services in 39 countries including USA, UK, Canada, Australia etc. - countrywide, statewide, or local postings - Free to post in any category in any location - Easy to use
I think the challenge here is for any ads to stay long on page coz new advertser will push our ads away ...so how we combat this ? i mean it's not flagging but our ads seems to be pushed away by others
We just relaunched our site, www.Qwixo.com. I'm new to DP, so many thanks to everyone for all their great insight.
I know U.S. college students I talk to know about Craigslist. I doubt many of them have heard of USFreeAds or GumTree.
Why would people stop using it when they start charging? loquo started out in spain three years ago... hit high... got bought by ebay everyone was like oh no thats bad news, they will start charging... we wont use it anymore... bla bla bla... and now what? you can now post featured ads for a price... and? isnt that good? i doubt that people are just out for the free...
