Craigslist is one of a kind. I doubt that it will be replicated, but then again you just never know.

Ebay and MySpace both have classifieds, and Google is working on it, but until Google's hits the market in full force, Craigs won't have any serious competition.

That's true that Google is developing a Craigslist alternative. Craigslist is so very unique with a loyal following of fans and posters.

    there is DP

DP could do it and I'm serious. Just look at what Digital Point did with webmaster type sales.

Not really, craigslist is very popular in terms of traffic. Alternatives like gumtree and Adoos are also like craigslist.

    alternatives are needed desperately.

    i use a couple others.
...we have a happy go lucky deleter...before I can even go to email and post it , it's been deleted.
craigslist staff are idiots. they think better to delete than to suppose it is a valid post. Doesn't Ebay own craigslist ?

Maybe it's that your posts are considered spam. What are you trying to sell?

not spam at all...actually this is moving into a DMOZ-type grey area.

only the posts for mortgages get deleted while the realtor, credit, services do not.....he even deleted posts in our home county....
has to be an insider working there
I already emailed CL to get an answer why..
nothing ever happened like this before.

Ebay owns 25% of CL, yes.

Sorry if I'm asking an obvious question here, but Lukas have you tried posting your ads with a different email address, or changing your IP address?

There are people who frequent DP who like to flag posts, for that I am certain. You really cannot fight them: instead, look to post in other cities and always make sure that your content matches the category.

As far as CL staff goes, they operate with a skeleton crew. No more than 12 people total I believe!

Uh, try ALL OVER THE WORLD! :D

Been there lately..? Check out the right side of the page and you'll see all the countries that they're in. They all get varying degrees of traffic (just like U.S. cities), but it'll probably just keep growing!

I dont think so. In terms of free traffic, opportunities for online businesses, fast indexing, volume of search and the community like interface, I think there is none.

yes, I have tried using different email addresses. & deleted immediately within minutes.
I think they are filtering the domain name upon submission for the ad.

Yes, only 1 ad was being flagged & deleted & the response said "deleted by Craigslist staff."

Either way they are incorrect and have not responded.

They will probably move to a paid ads for services at some point like the job posting area. At least they could've called or emailed to confirm it's a valid ad and not an affiliate spam ad. If it does not change there will be more people like me looking for and using an alternative ...So, watch out e-bay.. you could lose a valuable resource for advertisers or get your act together & all will be fine.

As soon as CL starts charging, people will automatically gravitate to the next best thing that is free. It sounds like there is a big market for Craigslist like sites.
