CPU Processor Question.

    Hello, I need some advice regarding cpu processor and pc spec.

    So, I am running a software on my pc and its going to take my cpu processor 44 hours to complete so I thought I would by a new pc with latest and best cpu processor available so I can complete it faster.

    Right now, I use an acer notebook amd turion 64x 2 1.8ghz, ram - 512 ddr2

    I am very noob in pc specs etc. I am still confuse whether I should buy a brand name pc or custom made.I thought by buying brand name, it would cost me alot more and I might get features that may not be very neccessary but I will get good quality atleast.

    Can u write me a spec so I have an idea of what I should get.

    I want the fastest possible cpu processor, maybe 4 gb ram, I want to use windows xp.

    And if you think, I should get a brand name pc, please advice me which exact pc, budget is around $2,000

    Well, your best bet is to build your own. Brand-Name PC's arent that great these days, but if you have to buy one, get an IBM (accer). A desktop computer will give you more power and will be easy to modify, While laptops are much harder to mod.
