Hello Everyone, I'm exploring the possible revenue that could be generated via my school district's web sites. Because of budget cuts my district is looking for any possible way to reduce costs and increase revenue. My school district is a large public high school district in southern California. Collectively our websites average about 600,000 page impressions a month. based on Google analytics 90+% of our visitors come from two counties in southern California. The vast majority of our users are high school student, their parents and professionals in education. Question 1 - Does anyone know what the ballpark CPM rate for "education" related content is? 2 - Does the description above sound like an asset advertisers would be interested in? Thanks for your help, Todd
CPC solutions, like Adsense or Pubcenter might pay between $2 to $7 ecpm. However, I believe teachers typically don't like ads from tutors or other random companies (think diploma mills), so this might not be a solution for you. The affiliate route is also not simple for a school website. While the ecpm is somewhat higher than Adsense, this is true only if you push a product with reviews. In my experience, just adding baners or links to pages does not work at all. Another choice is direct advertising, but that could be time consuming. Regarding your second question, I am sure that tutoring companies would be interested. Also, many education websites would see the advantage of having a link from a school website, since relevant links from websites with authority are given credit by search engines look.
