Newbie alert . I use adsense on my forums right now (http://www.rangerboard.com/) -- like many others, I'm looking for CPM ads. It seems, based on the readings here, that most CPM networks do not accept forum-only sites. I can understand why: forums tend to generate high pageviews from relatively static group of people. But here's my more-specific question: what about forum-only sites with a lot of uniques? Will a tier 1 or 2 CPM company accept a forum-only site if it averages over 70,000 unique visitors per month (i.e., over 2300 per day)? And growing... p.s. Does anyone even know of a forum-only site getting paid CPM? Thanks for any info!
TribalFusion, the leading CPM network, allows their ad codes on forums. But you need to get in with a content site first, then ask your rep for forum-only codes. Burst Media also allows forums, but I'm not even sure if Burst still exists, so...
sizzler_chetan: No, I'm not planning to spam. This is a website, not email, that I'm referring to. jackburton2006: I've seen your posts where you say you got your forum in on TF. But I'm wondering if yours is unique situation. Are you aware of anyone else successfully following your suggestion with TF? The problem is I don't have a content site with as much traffic to be accepted by TF. I might try a blog or frontpage as some have suggest, or maybe link to a content site. Anyway, I guess it's worth a try. I'll also try Burst Media -- they appear to still be around if this is the one you mean: http://www.burstmedia.com/
I have a forum with around 160k hits a month and we use http://www.clickxchange.com for some of our ads. They pay pretty ok.
iZaP: I got rejected from TF. Arkserver: I was referring to CPM ads. AFAICT, clickXchange is CPC/CPL/CPA? NaSh123: I got accepted by RightMedia, they don't seem to pay well, but I haven't finished the "learning" period yet, I guess. I just got accepted to RMX Beta today, seems like a terrific idea. I applied to all the networks in there. Anyone else try RMX for CPM ads on forums?
TBH, I don't have enough experience with them to give anything more than off-the-cuff remarks. And now that I've been accepted into RMX, I'll be sending all my RightMedia imps through that rather than to them directly. Sorry can't give anything better than that.
2) What do you mean by "learning" time? Yield Manager technology learns about users' responses to creatives on your sites and sections, in order to determine how likely it is that a click or conversion will happen. The more traffic your site has, the faster the system will move from learning to optimizing. Since learning occurs on a section basis, different sites or sections within those sites could receive different CPMs.
