CPM doubled after a year of being constant

I don't get it. traffic is the same. referrers are the same, ads are the same. CPM has been stuck at sub $1 for over a year. I've done nothing and two weeks ago it doubled over night. It has been double every day ever since (give or take a few cents).

Not that I'm complaining, but I'd like to understand...

it could be that the targeted words and ads have gone up
for example if the advertisers were paying .10 cents per ad due to competition its now .25 cents hence you the publisher make more.

Google has been targeting the MFA Adwords advertisers resulting in more higher paying clicks.

MFA = Made For Adsense. They are the sites that almost have not content, just some AdSense Ads. They pay you only .01$ and take your visitors.
Google is stopping those sites from using their ads since June.

On some of my sites I've also noticed unusual higher earnings, would be good to see that Google continue this venture.

I think so... because the most of MFA is low paying advertiser.
If google ban that sites the high paying advertiser will appeared.

I think you must have added some more content to your site and due to it you also have other adds rather then the same you had before and as of which you are having this double rate.

interesting. I did add games to my site but saw no increase in traffic. did not expect it would impact CPM
