CPM ads recommendations

I have a forum which gets around 1000-1500 pageviews (around 250 uniques) per day.

Currently I use only Adsense on it and I am making less than 2$ a day. I am not expecting alot considering the niche.

My question is that will it make sense for me to shift to another Ad network, especially CPM ads, considering the number of pageviews or it isn't worth the effort?

    Thanks

With CPM ads you will be looking at an eCPM of between $0.20 - $0.45 on average. That would mean that you would possibly earn only $0.20, or if you are lucky, $0.45 per day. So it would definitely not be worth your while to switch to CPM ads. CPM ads are only suitable for sites with loads of traffic. Most CPM ad networks don't allow their ads on forums so if you can find one that does it might even pay much less than the average mentioned above.

Thanks for the input, so am I good with adsense or should I consider a change considering the traffic my site gets?

I'd say stick with AdSense. If you use CPM banners they'll annoy your users and they might eventually leave.

Unfortunately forums will never attract a high CTR, simply because that you have repeat visitors and they quickly become ad blind. I've read that this particular forum (DP) earns $10k/month through AdSense. It sounds impressive at first but it's really not all that much considering the amount of traffic it receives.

Most major CPM networks do not accept forum only sites due to the fact that you mainly just get impressions and no clicks on the ads. If you were showing of page ads like popups / unders, etc. then you should find some of them type of networks fine that should accept you. There will probably still be some cpm networks that will accept you, but most probably will not pay quite as much.

ValueClick Media is the best imo for CPM ads.

most cpm firms won't even take you if you aren't doing 100-500 thousand impressions a month

Valueclick is one of the companies I use myself and they average $0.45 eCPM so I doubt it would bring you more than Adsense could. I also don't think they accept forum sites.
