Hi, On my website I mostly use image ads. I tried my luck with text ads also but the CTR was very poor so I started concentrating on image ads. I played with image ads placing and now I have increased my CTR from 0.5% to about 2%. But the problem is CPC is very low!!! A couple of days back I again tried my luck with text ads and got 2 clicks today. Here are the stats of both ads Image: 2 clicks - $0.03 Text - 2 clicks - $1.55 As you can see there is a hell lot of difference between the CPC of these two. I need to know why text ads have generally higher CPC? Shouldn't this be other way around!? I mean text ads are boring, bland and limited space, while image ads are vibrant, colorful, interesting, animated and much more space. Then why image ads pay less? It's like having an ad on TV (image) versus having an ad on Radio (text). How can I improve the CPC of my image ads? I am using all 200 websites in my competitive ad filter. Thanks
two days, and two clicks, isn't enough data to tell you anything... and we don't know how effective you are at actually removing the garbage mfa'ers from your site. overall tho, i'm with scubita, image ads suck... the problem with getting rid of 'em, tho, is that you also get rid of all the rich media ads as well, by default... the latter might pay more than image ads do.
yeah, I always stay away from image ads just for that reason - u are better off to have the lower ctr
They're right. 2 clicks is too little data to make such big assumptions. The gap between the CPC might be considerably smaller should you test with larger data. As for increasing your CPC, try to focus on ads that are really relevant to your site. Block out all the other ones that have no association with yours.
Ok here is some more data from past: Text ad in middle - CPC $0.25 Text ad in header - CPC $0.45 Image ad in middle - CPC 0.075 and if it is because of MFA, why does it only affect image ads and why not text?
