Hi, I've recently learned that the CPC I pay is related to the CTR of my ads. So as my CTR goes down CPC goes up and vice versa. However, is the CTR calculated per campaign, ad or keyword? I'm asking this because I'm wondering whether or not adding keywords that are only loosely related to the advert increase my CPC. fcmisc.
Don't add keywords that are loosely related to the ad, make a new ad for those keywords. You want to keep your CTR as high as possible to keep your CPC down.
So is is teh CTR aggregated by Ad? Sorry for appearing dense, but they don't really go into much detail on the Adwords site. I guess they want the CTR to be high. At the moment my new ad as a CTR of 3/866 which is about 0.3%. Will they start demanding more money from me?
I would say it's at the keyword level. If it was at the ad level you would think all keywords associated with the ad would be deactivated at the same time. 0.3% is pretty low. Lots of variables but if there's much competition for your keyword I wouldn't be surprised if you had to up your bid at some point if that CTR doesn't improve.
fcmisc im also a newbie.. only been adwording for less than a month.. The most usefull lessons ive learnt are from switch budget optimizer on and watched exactly what it did over the course of a week.. It was pretty awesome seeing how it set bids and how it affected the avg. pos. etc etc.
