It seems that you are in the site targeting portion of Google AdWords. Do you want your pay per click ads to appear on website you select individually or do you want them broadcast throughout Google's network? Or are you in the wrong place and just want to put your PPC ads on Google search?

    Hi Huligan,

I would like my banner ads to be placed on certain internet sites but I want to pay when someone clicks on my ad not impression based. The url link below is the interface that I'm not being presented with ? Google is just giving me the option of CPM not CPC ? Thanks for your help !

Unless Google has changed recently, I think you are unable to pay per click when you specifically target a website. If you enter URLs for the websites you want your ad to appear on, then you must pay per impression. If you just want your ad to be displayed on Google's network, then you pay per click. I'm pretty sure this is right, but I'll defer to someone who has done this recently.

The ability to have site-targeted campaigns as ppc is something that google have been saying they are going to introduce. I suspect it's still being rolled out and isn't available to all regions/ and /or all customers yet.

Here's what I mean. When you are creating a campaign in your Google AdWords account, you select between site-targeted and keyword-targeted. If you select a site-targeted campaign, you will enter the URLs of the websites you want your ad to appear on and pay per impression. If you select a keyword-targeted campaign, you have the option of choosing to display your ad on the 'content network'. In addition, you can select also select 'content bids'. You can pay per click in this campaign.

Hopefully, I'm understanding your question. By nature, the keyword-targeted campaign is pay per click. Site-targeted campaigns were added later by Google and they use the pay per impression model. I confirmed this by logging into one of my AdWords accounts. When viewing ad groups for a site-targeted campaign, the results table lists "Avg. CPM" and CPC isn't included. On one of my keyword-targeted campaigns, it listed "Avg. CPC" and CPM was not there.

If you want to bid per click and use a keyword-targeted campaign, then you can only display your ads on Google's content network. Your ad will appear on lots of websites, but you will not be able control which ones it displays on. The only control you have is you can turn it on and off. Does this answer your question?

you can use image ads - which are banners & other 'shapes' of image ads ('skyscraper' etc) for content campaigns - which are keyword determined, and site specific campaigns

    Hi Madga and Hulgian,

Thanks for the responses. They are helpful and I've gotten my answers. I just have one more question, is it possible to Geo-Target when running keyword targeted ppc camps ? In other words, the area that you are advertising in the ads will only show on sites that are in your local area ?

    Thanks
