CPC Adgroup levels vs Keywords

    Hi guys,

Yesterday i heard something that I am not sure if its really accurate so i was wondering if any of you know anything more.

Apparently if your Adgroup CPC is lower from the keyword CPC google takes this as a sort of "duplication" and the keywords dont appear! ie. if the adgroup CPC is set to 0.50 and my keyword is set to 0.60 the keyword wont come up!

I am not very sure if this is accurate so i was wondering if any of you heard something like this.

You might have to me a little more accurate in describing the issue.
You can see for each keyword if it is active or not.
If the active keyword is actually shown (for certain keywords in certain countries) is a completely different issue.

First of all, chack if the keyword is "active".
If that is the case use the Adwords Diagnostics Tool in your Adwords account
to see which keyword triggers which ads and if your ad is really shown.

Important: Similar keywords (when using borad match) from your own AdGroups and cmapaigns are competing against each other, so it might be one of your keywords are not triggering ads because they are "outbid" by another matching keyword form one of your adgroups.

Thanks sputnik17 but I think you dindt undertsand the issue.

The adgroup CPC is set to $0.50 but the keyword CPC in this adgroup is $0.60 so the keyword doesnt show up!

    hi, Stelios,

this is not true on any of my campaigns: keyword-level CPCs over-ride group-default CPC. It's very easy to test it:

    1. set up a new ad group with a default CPC of $0.50
    2. add a low-traffic keyphrase to that group & set its CPC at $0.60
    3. wait a while until it's live
    4. run a few searches for it yourself

    I hope that helps,

    daniel

Individual keywords can be set to an amount above the campaign CPC for sure - I'm looking at successful conversion stats for this as I write.
