CPC Ad does not seem to be sending traffic to my target site.

    Hi,

I set up a text link CPC ad yesterday and as of this morning I have 6 Clicks as recorded in the Ad Reports.

The Target URL I use in my ad, is specific to DP CPC ad and it is a php page that counts hits.
I have tested the Target URL (in the ad) carefully, by copying it out of the ad (in my DP Ad settngs page) and pasting it into Firefox and following the link that way.

In every case I go to the correct site (my site) and the counter gets incremented.

So I think I am doing everything correctly.

Do I have a misunderstanding on how the CPC ads work? I thought that when a person clicks them it will take them to my site.

Anyway .... any help you can give me will be much appreciated !

    Regards,

That should be it. Do you have access to your raw web logs?

    Yes,

    Just downloaded them.

Did a scan for "digitalpoint" with a text editor, but no matches.

I also took 2 of the IP addresses of the Users (separately) and searched for them. No matches to that.

Any way to have a test page on DP and click that? Can you do that ?

    Thanks again,

I looked at your account... I'm not showing your inline keyword ad has gotten any clicks. The clicks all show a cost of $0.00, and were from your banner ad. Are you seeing something different?

    OOOOOKay - I see now.

Yeah I saw "Clicks" and thought "cost per click" and thought "inline text".

    Sorry for the trouble.

My initial bid was just the default since I don't have any experience base in the DP environment. Other than experimenting, is there any way to tell where I need to bid to get some clicks?

    Thanks again man,

If you look at the ad itself (the edit screen where you can pick keywords), it will tell you on a per keyword basis if you are the highest bidder (highest bidder has a 75% chance of their ad being used for that keyword). Of course just because someone is the highest bidder, it doesn't necessarily mean they will get any clicks... Obviously the end user would need to click it on their own free will, but also you need to factor on how popular the keywords actually are. For example, I could be the high bidder for "supercalifragilistic", but it wouldn't matter much because the word is so rare, there aren't many opportunities for it to be linked (which is needed before it can be clicked of course).
