Cpanel Web Stats - Awstats and Webalizer

The "latest visitors" is an eye sore, and I don't find awstats nor webalizer to work well for me. They don't seem to record all the search engine traffic right nor do they display it in a nice neat manner like say statcounter does. I don't want to pay for statcounter. I'd like to be able to install something on my own server for my stats. Do you share my frustration? What do you use for your stats?

I use webalizer and statcounter, but i think webalizer is the best one, statcounter send me too low results.
    So i like more webalizer.

I just wish there was something as good as statcounter that could be installed on your server for free. Anything like that in the works?

Too low results might mean they are actually accurate.

Would you imagine that the new version of cpanel will come with better stats?

Well, each script is accurate on the programming perspective. It just depends how the data are gathered. If you are working directly with the server, you can track all the hits because you have the information, but a external tracker (such as statcounter) cannot. It will only track results when the counter code is shown on your page, thus every page which doesn't have the code will not be tracked, thus no code = no tracking = no stats

Those are some good points and it sounds like you have a handle on this issue. What stats program do you use on your server if I may ask?
