My emails are bouncing back as SPAM, Will turning on SPF records in CPANEL help? IDK what else to do, the content of the message is good, we are not on any blacklists, Also we were not using SSL encryption previously, should we have that enabled too? Thanks
Another thought... When I do a reverse DNS lookup for our servers IP address... it shows our host as "serenity.devotedhosting.com"... however, our email client instructions in CPANEL tell us to use mail.ourdomain.com as the server... so our reverse IP address lookup goes to a different domain from what i imagine our email is saying in its headers which may look spamy? However... If i use SSL settings as indicated in CPANEL, it tells us to use "serenity.devotedhosting.com" as the email server which would match with the reverse DNS lookup results... so should I start using SSL?... also everytime it says "certificate isnt valid" is this a problem? Does my host need to renew their certificate or do I need to get one? (I dont want to buy one!)
First the the SSL or not issue is a mute point as that relates to how you connect to the server when you send email from your PC to it and not how the server connects to other servers for delivery. If you set strict SPF records and send your email through the server it can help, so can Domain Keys. However one of the things I've found that improves delivery, and do for our hosting clients, is to use the host name in the MX record in this case serenity.devotedhosting.com The bounce message can also help you diagnose the issue as can your hosts technical support people, after all that's what you pay them for.
No Matter what You need SPF Records or DKIM setup for all your domains or you wont be able to send emails to Yahoo , Just set-up your server to add SPF records automatically when you create an account
