Hi I'm going to rent a dedicated server soon, and I have the choice between three different control panels: Cpanel, Plesk 7.5 "Reloaded" and Ensim Pro I'm going to host one large site (both in Mbytes and no. of visitors), and probably around 30-40 smaller sites there. (Not going to rent out any server space) I've only used Cpanel before, so I just wondered if any of you have any comments on the difference between the control panels?? And are there any major differences between choosing a Windows or a Red hat server?? I've only used shared and "semi dedicated" servers until now, so I don't know too much about Dedicated ones.... Thanks..
Hi Redleg! Sorry this reply comes quite late. Maybe by now you have already made a decision, but my opinion for the benefit of anyone else who may need such a decision: For server management that gives you the most flexibility, Cpanel wins hands down. As for the difference between Windows and Red Hat, it really depends on which applications you will be using. Of course asp and aspx based applications will only run on Windows. Linux is best for PHP applications / websites. Regards!
Thanks Jobokoth! I was just about to post the exact same thread! Is your answers still the same if I tell you that I know barely nothing about servers and that i'm not a programmer? Are you all guys think like jobo? Cpanel or Plesk?
Hi Everyone, I was wondering how an answer to this query came after aroun 1 year. First post was Sep 8th 2005, 2:59 am and its answers are on Aug 31st 2006, 1:53 pm , thats quite wonderful. Anyway my opinion about this thread query is cpanel is best if you have some advanced idea about hosting and can do lot from back end itself. otherwise plesk can do lot better as the entire system can be managed from front end(website tool) itself. Regards Ciril Sreedhar
cPanel all the way dude...although if you dont wana sell hosting then you can use Plesk since its good for administrators Saad
