Can't seem to get it to work, shows the user but when visiting the url no box is popping up, it just goes straight to the page?

    Any ideas.

    Thanks

You might have the password saved. Are you talking about the password for your Cpanel, or .htaccess for a directory on your site?

I am just talking about when you click on "Password Protect Directories" from within cPanel.

I set it up, and it doesn't work.

I did end up contacting my host and they set it up for me with a fix by not using the cPanel option so alls well.

Check if the file has .htaccess file

Its NECESSARY to have the file AUTOMATICALLY created by cPanel in order for you to have Password Protection for Directories
