cPanel host to host transfer with Db's

I am host shopping again and want to understand the process of cPanel transfers before I go much farther along.

From what I have read here transfering from one to the other is not a problem. But, what if, some of those files are php files where DB call are used?

The new server will not be using the same names/passwords even if the version is the same? That's a question, not a statement.

I can do it the old way but if their is a lazy man's way I would rather do that.

As in, like it converted all the usernames and DB names so that it all worked with no problems?

    Thanks for your reply.

Once you have the data imported into your new database, and the PHP files moved across, I believe you will still need to change the details in your script(s). Most scripts will have a configuration file (config.php?) allowing a single change to let the script function correctly. Otherwise it might be a search-and-replace job using your favourite text editor.

Most likely your new host will mean a different database name, username and password, although you should be able to keep the table names the same.

Thanks XIG that is more like what I thought it would be like. That's the way I did it last time. I was hoping there might be an easier way.

If you are transferring from 1 Cpanel host to another things just work!

I have done this several times and never had to change anything. There is a small chance that you may have to change your DB username - but as already noted it should be a 1 line change in a config file.

moving from one CPanel host to another is one of the easiest moves you can make.
