I've been having this issue for a while now and I was hoping someone here could shed some light on the situation. I've been hosting a person's domain for a while and she has her site up and running, but there's one issue - she can't seem to log into her CPanel. I've told her a couple of times that I don't have access to her CPanel details, only her domain provider does. I went on telling her to contact her domain provider but she doesn't seem to respond to it. It's almost as if she was avoiding it. After a bit of research I've been getting mixed responses online as to whether her CPanel and FTP username/password are the same. My own FTP/CPanel have different details and so that's why I'm confused. Her domain is hosted under Cheap Domains. My question is, is she right and do I have access to her CPanel and I don't know it or did I just let her confuse me when I know that her details can only be provided by Cheap Domains? What else can I tell her?
cpanel is provided by the web host (you) and not the domain registrar (cheap domains). The login is the same as FTP by default, you can change this if you really want. The one difference is that if you are hosting their account as a domain under your cpanel account and only giving her an FTP account. If this is the case she will not have cpanel access. To have cpanel access the account has to be created in WHM from a reseller or root account.
Alright, now I get it. After looking at my host I realized I have a shared plan not a reseller. I've already informed her about the situation. Thanks for your help! =)
