CPANEL access so O can change keyword, title etc.

Discussion in 'HTML & Website Design' started by dinrock, May 17, 2009.

Recently purchased a site that's accessible via Cpanel. OK, I've added links in footer etc. But where in the settings can I access the HTML to change or tweak <title>TITLE</title> tags and change keywords? I log in, and then from FILE MANAGER>PUBLIC_HTML is it? Or what are the steps needed to access page with title & keywords so I can work on them?

    Thanks -----

You want to connect by ftp, your web host will usually provide ftp details and you can also create seperate ftp accounts within cPanel, basically using an ftp client you can download a file or your whole site, edit, upload back to the server.

    Hi PIPES:
OK, so I log into my CPANEL and the icons all appear....there is that FTP MANAGER. I click that and what do I proceed to do next?

Well i only ever login to mine through ftp software i use http://www.flashfxp.com/ but theres many alternatives.

    You need:

    IP Adress
    Username
    Password

To login using the method that i prefer, to get that info its often within an email when you go with a particular host or they will mention it in their tutorials, help files or somewhere.

Oh I see now. Let me emphasize I want to log in normally (not using FTP) so I want to find out:

#1. After logging in using my USERNAME & PASSWORD
#2. That page with various icons appears....
    #3. I click on FILE MANAGER....correct?

This is in order to get onto the right page of HTML to add new keywords & tweak my <title></title> etc.

After login to your cpanel, let say you want to modify the index.html/index.htm/index.php file

    1. Click on File Manager/Legacy File Manager
    2. Select public_html directory
    3. Click on the file you wish to made changes
    4. Click on the Edit File with Code Editor option (pencil icon)
    5. Your file will open in another window
    6. Made changes as you like (becarefull before made any changes, you should not escrew up whole the file)
    7. Click on Save file

I hope I am able to explain you the steps required to modify anyfile using cpanel.

THANK YOU. I have added back links to the footer etc. No problem. So I am experienced at opening, accessing and adding information this way, but for whatever reason, I cannot access the page that contains the <title></title> or keyword & description tags....HOW? You instructions here are OK BUT . . . see in RED

    1. Click on File Manager/Legacy File Manager
    2. Select public_html directory
    3. Click on the file you wish to made changes after clicking public_html, what do I click next? I see no index.html - and if I were to see it, do I click the folder icon on left of index.html or index.html itself?
    4. Click on the Edit File with Code Editor option (pencil icon)
    5. Your file will open in another window
    6. Made changes as you like (becarefull before made any changes, you should not escrew up whole the file)
    7. Click on Save file

I hope I am able to explain you the steps required to modify anyfile
