Both publishers and advertisers, this is such a brilliant program. If you havent heard of it then here:

    http://services.google.com/payperaction/

Advertisers: pay only when someone signs up/buys product

Publishers: get paid a decent amount when a visitor buys/signs up through an advert on your site.

This is going to be so usefull to everyone. This will rid of PPC and make sure that nothing but profit is made.

While it is a decent add on service it is hardly going to replace ppc. There are thousands of people out there promoting intangible items that can't be sold through a cpa network.

I think there is a danger that unscrupulous advertisers will use CPA advertising as a method of branding.

Basically, put a crappy ad out there that will amost never convert, and then show it ten million times. You achieve branding without having to pay much of anything...

    It's not a panacea.

In the case of the branding problem, Google would likely classify the ad as a poor performer which would lessed its exposure. I think the ranking process would work similar to that of PPC.

Exactly! There are definitely ways to manipulate and game a cpa system just like you can with a ppc system.

Personally I would rather promote affiliate products straight through the company that sells them rather than give them inexpensive ad space on my site that will earn me a fraction of the income.

I see you point, but most advertisers I come in contact are wanting measured returns. It's difficult to get a value on your ROI if all you are doing is branding. I think it's a minority group of the PPC advertisers. In addition, the PPA advertiser will have to provide a valid conversion which (I'm sure) Google will qualify and test. It's not perfect, but there's a lot of potential in PPA.

I agree there. They will likely have a conversion metric that is taken into account as far as ad placement. That would make the most sense. Show higher converting ads first.

I think it's great that more people will have more options. It's not an end all, but a nice addition.

It is more than a nice addition, if publishers can find a nice converting product, then webmasters will make more money. Also with only paying per "action" for advertisers, this will eliminate advertising expensis on the internet.

For those who will use it, it is nothing but fantastic news.
