Should i give out 15% off coupon code for the next purchase on my website to all the people that purchase something on my site? Basically when they get their package with their order and see the receipt it will have a 15% off coupon for the next purchase. Is this a good idea or should i not do it? Only thing i can think of is that they might feel like they could of had that towards their original purchase and try to return it and buy it again..idk what do you think?
maybe give them a 5% discount code for their current purchase and then after they make their purcahse send an email saying you appreciate their business and you'd like to offer them 15% off their next purchase
With so many of these things it's a case of suck it and see. It's good if you are able to keep a track of vouchers (if unique) and then run some analysis on them, to see what is most effective. You have so many variables to play with, and you can easily modify them... Not knowing what you sell... but a limited time offer can work well for some prods, if you have the ability to manage an expiry date on your voucher??
Yes its a good idea to keep customer coming back. But i would suggest you to impose a minimum amount such as the sales must be more than $100 to get 15% discount coupon.
As Mentos said, this is great for user retention, having good lists of clients for newsletter down the road, etc. Not only that, it will make ya feel good. Karma is a good thing. Nigel
15% is too much I think. You may want to put a monetary value like $5 off your next purchase less than $100. $10 off your next purchase less than $200. I have got coupons like this 'Coupon good for your next purchase'. But the thing is that many of such things have expiration days.
I think that phpdoctor22 is right. Cause some of them can get mad when they see coupon code after they get package
I am always a fan of rewarding the most loyal customers. So if you have to chose between giving a coupon code of 15% to all customers vs. giving 25% to top 20% loyal customers, I would go with the latter. This is because you are rewarding a repeat purchase behavior which will likely mean that your top customers will build even more loyalty to your site.
Don't feel guilty that their first purchase isn't discounted - you're rewarding them for using your site in the first place by offering a discount. You shouldn't have to give initial money off in the first place, that probably means your prices are too high.
i also agree with this guy because most big online stores offer coupons after you have made a purchase to try and get them to come back and make another purchase, they usually wait a couple days to send the email though so don't send it right away but its best to put a minimum like if its 15% off your next $50 or more purchase.
It's a very good idea. You increase sales ( people that had 90$ but not 100$ - ex ) and you also get some free marketing as your coupon might be published on coupons sites.
to catch them to back to purchase, discount percentage may not a good idea, try out with rebate. Atleast they can buy other product from you with the rebate. Because sometime the lifetime of one product will long so they wont think to buy the same product again even do have 15% off.
