Most of the countries allow you to register a domain in the following format: domainname.countrycode i.e makemoney.fr I was wondering if you're allowed to register a domain like: com.fr (format:domainname.countrycode) If such a domain is registered, I see that there is a lot of room for some kind of misrepresentation in the name of antoher domain just by putting a subdomain i.e google.com.fr (format:subdomainname.domainname.countrycode) So are you allowed to register such domain names as com, net, org with just the country code after it?
if what you are refering to as "third-level" domains.. yes.. you can.. go to idotz.net and click on the tab
I don't think you got my point, I was asking If I was allowed to register domains which are name such as 'com', 'org' etc... followed my a country code i.e could I register the domain com.fr if it's available, it doesn't have to be fr, it could be any other country
some registries may or may not allow it. ccTLDs are governed by their respective countries and they can pretty much do as they please.
Yes, you can register a customize domain name but it will much costly ( possibly will cost around 50K) for registration. http://www.networkworld.com/news/2008/062608-board-opens-way-for-new.html
