Country/Currency and Conversion

Let's say a company selling widgets is based in Australia and it wishes to market its widgets to other countries.

What effect, if any, would having the product's price in local currency have on conversion? Would this put people off? For example a $100AUD product is around
50 Pounds. Do people believe, despite text saying otherwise, that the company does not ship to the US? Does the fact that the AUD price is 3 figures as opposed to 2 have a physcological affect on the prospect?

Assuming that it does have an effect, what is a possible solution? Perhaps creating a separate site for each country with the price in its local currency? Or maybe displaying the approximate price in each currency in a table?

The other issue is on the Contact Us Page/Details Page you may see an Australian address. Would this put users off? Would a line that says: Distributors in: Country 1, Country 2, Country 3 have any effect?

    Thanks in advance.
