Please post your estimated appraisal for: counterstrikesource.com

This domain is the exact spelling of the new version of Counter-Strike that was released in Nov 2004 for online purchase and Sept 2005 in retail stores. There is currently a site at this domain that was launched in August, 2005. The site currently generates about 9000-10,000 unique visits and 35,000-55,000 page views per month. It has a Google PageRank of 4. It contains a forum with 2311 registered users and 2371 posts. The site currently earns about $100 a month on YPN.

What is the value of the domain name (with or without the current site)?

I would think that domain would be in the high $X,XXX as so many players play Counter-Strike and the site itself has good PR and lots of members

Well, i'm not a very good appraiser, but those are my two cents.

I have to say it's also high $x,xxx, maybe as high as low $xx,xxx...
Depending on the hits, what's on it, and if people find interest in it.

Rep Appreciated if this post was useful!

If you sell, the page rank may disappear, the value of the name will lessen with time. selling at 25 x income would be 2008 before the buyer recoups unless he can build it further. Hope the game community are still as keen on it by then. I would rate low to mid $x,xxx max.

If you get 100 bucks a month why would you sell it? The domain is good, CS source will be famous for more like 2 or 3 years, thats 1200x3= 3600 dollars just from the website, after that you can keep on your forums because there is always players that keep playing it ;D

    I rate it xx,xxx

$100 a month sounds like a lot of money, but it is not really. Not from a site whose domain name alone may be worth 25-75 times that value. As you said, if I made the same amount of money over the next three years, I would make $3600 on the site. Yet, you estimated the value of the domain as $xx,xxx. I feel that this appraisal value is probably too high, it makes financial sense that if I can sell a domain for a price that is so many times my monthly income, I should sell it. Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate your time posting an appraisal and giving your input. I am just posting my opinion on my situation. Thanks for posting.

Overall, I feel that I am not monetizing the domain well. That, I am working on. I am just trying to assess the current value of the domain (and potentially the site/traffic that comes with it). When I first started my site last July, I was getting 100-150 unique visitors just on type-ins each day. Even without a site, the domain was getting that much traffic. I have improved traffic with my site, but only by about 3-4 times the initial value.

    I'd say low $x,xxx

As a rule of thumb, sites normally sell for 10-12x their monthly profit. In your case, that's $1200. But YPN is much better than Adsense in terms of US traffic, which will need to be taken into account, a lot of people report a 2 or 3 times earning boost with YPN, so the buyer of the site could only get $40/month unless he's lucky enough to have a YPN invite. Although the domain is the exact game name, it's quite a long name, and it's not as popular as the original counter strike. I would say $2500-3500 is reasonable.
