    Have you played CS?

I have heard many people like it. Anyone know whats so special about it? And Is it free or paid?

And will it work if you are using a Dialup connection?

    Thanks

There are multiple CS'... CS 1.6, CS:CZ, CS:S. They are all paid, but all worth the money, imo. Dialup probably would not be a good idea.

I believe dialup would work because it is a pretty old game. But DSL would be much better.

Forget about it if you have a dialup connection. The best environment for CS is Local Area Network. We all friends on the same network play this game sometimes. Very addicting.

I have CS:S and got it for $10 in ebay.
I don't recommend playing with dialup.

LAN.. Hmm, I don't have enough players to play with LAN.

But yes! I've got another connection too, which is something like 250kbps. Will that work?

I dont think it will work fine even on a 512kbps connection. You might face a lots of lag/pauses. LAN is very fast therefore you won't face any difficulty playing on LAN.

Where do you live in Pakistan? In Karachi, we have cable internet system (On LAN) in almost every area and you'll find tens of CS players anytime.

I live in Batkhela, N.W.F.P. Nothing else available other than Dialup & VWireless. But both are annoying. Dialup is 33kbps and VW is 230kbps.

The 33Kbps dialup is way to better than VW. Because its always available.

For 230 kbps, I'd suggest CS 1.6 more than other versions.

1.6 might be OK on dial-up. Source? Forget it. Awesome game though.

I remember playing cs 1.6 back in the days, back then it was more fun. this was before when it was a free mod for halflife.. then they started selling it, it really suprised me when they did that. day of defeat followed up, which was another free mod for halflife which came out on the market and is pretty succesful today.

    1.5!

Yes indeed... Used to play it all day long for more than a year.

Dialup is out of the question.

I had a friend who back in the day (which is like 10+ years ago now) would play CS all the time. He had a team, and they would have planning meetings and study maps. They were one of the best in the country. Somehow he got through college while doing this.

LAN is the best for CS, but nowadays just a few gamers who play in Local Area Network.
