Countdown To The Exciting, Historic Super Bowl XL1!!!

    1964 was 42 years ago.

That is how long it has been since a 5-0 NFL team lead the sport in both most points scored and fewest points given up (after 5 games, source=NBC).

The 2006 Chicago Bears do not mearly settle for winning. They are so good, so dominate the other team is destroyed, not just defeated. In other words, Seattle (who lost to the Bears 37-6), are at this time 4-1 and will probably go to the playoffs.

IMO, deep down inside most players on the Seattle team do not seriously expect to repeat as NFC Champs, after the way the Bears pushed them around.

This thread will be fun for Bears fans as it is the Countdown to history. As of today we have 111 Days To Go before historic Super Bowl XL1!

This year could be really fun!! :) :) :D

    Thanks.

The whole city is going nuts already! I need to fire up my local blog pretty soon, but I've been too busy having fun. :)

Good luck with the Bills ;)

Not if you are a Buffalo Bill fan!
I think they are trying to lose every game. What are the stats on that, does anyone know?
Has a team ever lost every single game in a season?

I think Tampa Bay might have more than once, not sure.

    Update: What A Game!!

The Bears played their first really bad game, but made a very dramatic late comeback to win 24-23! :D

Local media is already calling it the "Monday Night Miracle" , and in some ways it really was. Anyone see the 4th quarter?

The 4th quarter was unbelievable! Amazing! The cards are totally incompetent. What was REALLY fun was the comeback started with kornheiser said that if the Cards lose they should close the stadium and turn it into a pizzeria LOL LOL.

That Cards game was totally friggin nuts. bring on the pizza. :D

I'm not trying to stir the pot here BUT what do you say to the fact that the Bears have beaten teams with a combined record of 12-21?

How many AFC teams of years gone by have gotten to the playoffs with 13-3, 14-2 records only to get busted in the playoffs?

In the Bucs superbowl year, they had a win streak where the opponents win/loss was worse than that. All you can say is that the Bears don't make their own schedule, don't control what other teams win or lose. I think the combined w/l is a false statistic. This is the salary cap NFL, any given week, any given team can win. Good teams find ways to win.

They sure did last weekend!! :)

The Bears led 24-0 after the first 1/4 (a team franchise history record). They won the game 41-10.

Normally I can't watch any lop-sided sports game, but seeing this team dominate is pretty fun. The shutout held for most of three quarters, and after they gave up points I still watched some of it.

The Bears are 'for real'. Countdown status: Temporarily lost track of how many days until The Exciting, Historic Super Bowl XL1!!! :D

It's about time Manning won a ring. I would also hate to see another quality QB end up without a ring, like Dan Marino was.

He is the only one to kick two superbowl game-winners. One other kicker had just one game winner.

right...most of the scores look like they did not require a clutch kick, http://www.superbowl.com/history/recaps

I just hope the game is more entertaining than last year...last year, not only was the game BORING but the commercials sucked too :p :p

I think that some of the commercials will be good this year. I heard that doritos and general motors are holding contests to let the general public make the commercials and the winner gets their video aired during the superbowl.
