If you are looking to display a countdown to a certain date or something, you can do this many different ways. Javascript would be your best bet...just do a google search for 'javascript countdown' and I'm sure you will find tutorials or code snippets to use. If you are wanting this to be design heavy, you may want to use some Flash Actionscripting. Kirupa.com has a wonderful tutorial on countdowns in Flash, . Again, I think Javascript would be your best bet.
there must be a gazillion javascript countdown scripts out there if its a 'live' count down as the user watches the site, you will need javascript
