Could you tell the difference between "sign up" and register?

Some website use "sign up",Is that mean I should pay for the ID？

Both of them are same, just using different words

lol... maybe they called it sign up because when you register you have to fill up a form.

Well, register mean 'Join Us' by filling up the long and hassle form, while Sign-up only need you to fill in your name and email address (Correct me if I'm wrong).

In my knowledge Signup and Register are used as the same meaning for filling up forms to join

The terms 'Signup' is for online and 'Register' is for offline. Register could be use in online also. basically both are same.
