Absolutely but the question I'm asking, I guess, is whether you could survive without them in the current market.
It is quite possible to survive without Google... We can settle for just bread and watter... but it is better to sometimes put some butter on the bread... On a serious note, only membership type sites can survive without Google.
If you have a product or service you can survive without google with marketing and type-in traffic plus whatever msn and yahoo brings you. You can not survive without Google if your revenue is based on adsense and selling links.
Does it not worry you guys? What if they pulled your site tomorrow? What would you do then? The old saying is not to put all your eggs in one basket. How true that is.
That is why most of us are webmasters plus affiliates . For example my income split is 50/50 between adsense and affiliate income.
Google is smart enough to make the webmasters to work for itself.. It makes the webmaster to work hard to make there site match there algorithms. The place where Yahoo and MSN lack is it doesn't seem to give much importance to the webmasters. It is rather busy improving there algorithm. As far as google goes till it makes the webmasters happy it will exist, if webmasters rebel.. Google would be history. SO google don't get on webmasters nerves!! We can and we will survive with out you.. but without us you dont have a chance or survival!! The larger they are the harder they fall!! ..:: peace ::.. Jeba
I don't know its hard to answer that really, I have a lot of people who have bookmarked my site and a lot of return custom however I do get a large portion of traffic from google, it would depend on where the other traffic went / how they navigated the web
If Google died, webmasters would have to work really hard for traffic they are getting organically now. I suppose if they worked at it really hard, though, they could survive.
If you Google traffic died and you have a lot of fixed costs you will have some big trouble. Otherwise you can always get traffic somewhere else.
Nice experiment to boot. resist googling !!!!!!...My personal point is that Google will live forever and all of us would use more and more products from google, like Google OS or smtb else ..But still thinks that del.icio.us behaves in some ways as a very accurate search engine in certain areas...
Hell no! The only way I survive in school is dreaming about my site and it's earnings (which isn't much btw)
In terms of traffic Paid Directories/ Bidding Directories have mostly ignored serp to get traffic and had created traffic through each other (Promotion/Advertising). Directories are still relying on PR though.
In terms of money, nope. In terms of using the internet, not really. I can always revert back to Alta Vista.
