I am learning so much on DP. It is better than any book I have ever read. I was wondering if someone would share how they would launch and market a new site. It is an online tutoring company. Thanks! ps Please use baby steps.
1) Find a quality niche using nichebot and the tools available from shawn. 2) Find a domain. 3) Find a cheap host. 4) Decide what system I will use to develop site (wordpress, dreamweaver, or vbulletin) depending on the type of site. 5) Complete the design. 6) Spend 30 days adding my "pillar" content. 7) Start getting links with my linkbait content. 8) Monetize using any number of systems (adsense, chitika, cj, azoogle, etc.) 9) Take profits, repeat.
Anyone else care to share? I'm very interested in this as well. What I've been doing (not very effective) 1) Create site in whatever niche 2) Add news blog that I rarely update 3) Pay for submission to a bunch of directories 4) Buy specific directory listings 5) Try to trade links with webmasters for related sites, with very very low results. 6) Wait around for googlebot and the index to list my pages 7) Sit here scratching my head when I can't get any of my sites beyond a few hundred uniques per day.
you will gain profits if you would follow the BLUE PRINTS recommended by the kind members of DP... but make sure that you do not change your path and concentration from the main aim and thats making money from the website... its really very hard to follow everything... but small steps in each area makes a big impact... all the very best..
Mike, You put blueprints all in capitals, like it was some keyword or something. So I searched on it, and didn't find much. So your comment is not, "go read the blueprints documents that DP members wrote." You comment is, "lots of DP members have written down launch steps over the years, go back and find them." Am I correct? I just want to be sure I'm supposed to be doing general searches, rather than heading straight to a single authoritative document. -Tony
My steps have varied. Here's one way I launched a site: 1. Buy "The Dowser." Enter keywords, look for more popular niches. 2. Put together Google-friendly pages with heavy SEO for the niche I picked. 3. Promote site via link exchanges, sigs, and a little Google Adwords. 4. Get $5/month from advertising. (That site was www.what-do-women-want.com and it works, but not as well as I had hoped.) For another site, I did this: 1. Create freeware that includes links back to my site. 2. Release freeware on my site. 3. Watch backlinks go up & up & up. 4. Get $10/month from advertising. (That was www.outshine.com and it does OK.) Lastly, here are the ones that I do the most work for, and probably lose the most money on: 1. Create newsy site with forums. 2. Seed forums with a few posts, and mod the forums to have decent features. 3. Run $300/month in Google Adwords. 4. Get lots of visitors. 5. Get $50/month in advertising. On sites like www.publisherdatabase.com, that paid off OK, because now I do very little advertising (maybe $1/day) and I still get $50/month in advertising, and I still have members signing up. However, my site www.reepicheep.com did so miserably bad that I abandoned it, haven't posted a news item in months. -Tony
