It depends on what you mean by what you said. If you are asking if you can load your paypal account from your debit card, the answer is NO. However, if you are asking if you can attach a debit card to your paypal account and then use that to pay someone else through paypal into their paypal account then the answer is YES. You however cannot get a cash advance from your own debit/credit card through paypal as it would be a breach of contract, ie you cannot pay yourself.
I guess the OP asks if it is possible to use the paypal gateway to send debit card payments. The answer is a NO. I beleive it is possible only via a paypal account attached to the dc. and not when you want to use paypal as a credit card gateway. CCAvenue allows you to pay via debit card. I beleive so, as paypal's send money page (without logging to account) says credit card at all instances and does not mention even once that a debit card can be used. BUT on the other hand, paypal's home page says this : Accept debit and credit cards on your website hassle-free .... Thank you.
It depends really because in some countries, an ATM Card is referred to as a Debit Card. While countries like India, Debit Cards are generally for use within India only and is not international by nature. Here in Singapore, they do issue Debit Cards from VISA and MasterCard which looks and acts like a Credit Card when it comes to spending. However the core difference is that a Debit Card draws directly from your bank account while a credit card bills you at the end of the billing cycle and it is considered an unsecured loan. As such, these types of debit cards would be treated pari passu with any credit cards. In the past when I had the payoneer debit card, I used it to make payments online and through Paypal without any issue. It is afterall a Mastercard debit card.
India's debit cards are international as well. But I am not sure if they are effective when used with paypal, as I ve never heard of successful transactions with paypal via debit card. I havent tried with a debit card so i am not sure if it works. VCCSELLER
As long as the debit card is not "attached" to the PayPal account, then yes, you can send money using a debit card. In other words, it's your PayPal account, and you want to make a deposit using your own credit card or debit card, you can as long as you haven't registered that card to your PayPal account. If you mean can your customers use a debit card to make purchases from you by way of your PayPal account, yes. We set up websites for individuals/small businesses that use PayPal as their payment processor, and they have no problem accepting debit card payments.
I believe you can just add your debit card as a "backup funding source" and when your PayPal balance isn't enough to conver the transaction, it'll automatically pull from your backup source that you list with them. Can anyone confirm? I know this is the case with the PayPal Buyer Credit... Best of luck.
Yes, this is exactly how it works. Say you make a $20 purchase using PayPal. If you have only $5 in your PayPal account, and have a debit card (with some funds in it) as a PayPal backup source, then PayPal will first deduct what it can from the PayPal account (the $5), then take the remainder from the debit card (the $15 to add to the $5 from the PayPal account).
