Could you please recommend a good host that you have used - With no major down-times, I mean if the down-time is say ...1 hour per month or less that may be ok.

I have just been thrilled with get2host.com. Their customer service is excellent and they give you one month free to try their service out (without collecting any of your personal information or payment information.

Give them a try and see.

    Sunshine

P.S. I'm not affiliate with them in any way. I'm just a satisfied customer.

I have dedicated servers with valueweb.com and 1and1.com

I've been using valueweb for many years and I never had a problem with them and I can't recall even one downtime. I needed a nother server last fall so instead of putting all my eggs in one basket, I got it from 1and1. I never called their technical support so far but I heard from others it is great. I don't remember the link but there's a site where u can compare hostsing companies.

The good thing about 1an1 you can install/reinstall the os right from a PC that's conencted to the machine via serial cable. I don't know about the windows version but in the *nix you can install fedora/debian/suse

I moved to beachcombers.net and there hasn't been any downtime yet. (my previous host cost me hundreds of $ in revenue loss during downtime :( )

I've had good results with Hostland.com - no down time at all in over three months. They offer a 30-day free trial (no credit information required), as well.

I had heard the biggie and best in the states is godaddy.com

I am about to register and host a new domain and was either going to go with them or yahoo, yahoo is who my brother loves. But I know godaddy is popular and cheaper.

Anybody know the facts about godaddy ?
