If you do you will mostly waste your time.
All categories have editors and many of them
How do you tell an acytive editor? I did an update or two in a category the other day, it may not get looked at again for a while.
Few or many listings makes no difference if a site is what we want we use it.

Most important thing about category selection is choose the one that fits your site best because if it does not fit it will wait for a review, then it will be moved to the appropriate category and it will again wait for a review.

By not using the suggestion pool... I know, I replied to that :D

Why do you start your post with me not reading something, then you follow that up by replying to something you don't bother to read? 1st off, this thread is NOT about me, and that is hijacking, 2nd, you know damn well why I left, and to boot, I DID NOT BREAK THE GUIDELINES! So your point there is moot to boot!

As to me saying how they should run the site, MOST places actually welcome suggestions from their end users... *shrug*

But this was not an end use comment. You like to believe you know how DMOZ works after your vast experience there.

Secondly what is a quick glance lets say 30 seconds, to load and look, though that would be going some, so on a category with 200 submissions that takes 1 hours 40 minutes to quickly glance through. Now many editors could find dozens of sites in that time. And that's my free time that you have wanted me to take a quick glance in. Your free time, well you left. When we CHOOSE to check the suggestions pool we VOLUNTEER our own time. Your free time, well you left.

Strange how this crappy directory is one of the most sought after to enter, lists more sites per month than most directories have in total, is the directory of choice of one of the largest organisations on the web and is the largest human edited directory, draws more comment from people like you than any other single directory. They all have damn poor judgement. ROFLAO

    Quoted for truth!

Are you sure you are an editor?

But he was......albeit for a fleeting second or two. Amazingly he wants us to publish thousands of sites, yet he managed how many? 5-6?????

Perhaps we should listen to his vast experience?

Statistically, I did FAR better then the very founders of the site! In fact, I did NOTHING against the guidelines! So, erm, how does that have ANYTHING to do with how the ODP is ran, other then maybe showing there IS some issues with the guidelines? I mean, thread after thread is being taken off topic to discuss me, so CLEARLY I must have done something wrong... right?

And I would also like to point to this...

AT LEAST I WAS AN EDITOR. Anonymously can NOT say the same! So the 6 sites I added are FAR more then what she has done! So if you want to talk about vast experience within this thread, yeah... lets compare edits!

    After all he did say...

What is so funny about that?

here is a link to my profile: http://www.dmoz.org/profiles/qryztufre.html]

so again... at least I was an editor! Something that I can prove and you can not! So if there is humor to be found here, it's that you are laughing at me offering proof to something that you can not say for yourself.
