nope Look at this http://www.paypalsucks.com Or how about this http://ebaysucks.com/ You ONLY say "widget sucks" NOT widget bucks sucks .....that was weird to type as well
Certainly WidgetBucks can sue you. The real question is will they. The least they can do is file a UDRP and try to get the domain name from you. There's something there that's already giving them a book to throw. Just telling you what to expect at least. The worst is up to your imagination.
I think you may be protected under the first amendment. You just need to stick to facts only and cover your intentions behind the website (noncommercial criticism purposes are allowed). I am sure they can still sue you. But the real outcome will depend on your lawyer and how far you want to take it in court. (thats how MS gets away with everything) Here's a good story on this: http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2000/08/38056
but my site name is not "widgetbuckssucks" as the person said above, they don't own the copyright "widget" so how could that be a potential lawsuit? if they did try, hopefully a nice lawyer would want to take the cause for publicity against a company would sue some 16 year old for expressing his opinion under the first amendment
Widget Sucks ⇨ Non-biased updates, news, reviews about WidgetBucks non-biased?...lol...the name of your site implies tons of bias... anyway, i don't see how they have a way of suing you...i'm sure they don't own the copyright or trademark on the word 'Widget'...but that's just my non lawyer opinion
the name is really a play on words rather than similar "ebaysucks" and the like, if they do good then i will post that they did so..that just hasn't happened yet
I'd think twice about using their logo the way you have, they will certainly have grounds to come after you IMO. But I'm not a lawyer.
You might want to remove their logo. http://i4.tinypic.com/6lmf5dx.jpg - You don't have any right to use it, do you?
Oh, it's "trademark", not "copyright" as you said. But you could also be sued for copyright infringement since it appears you used their logo. Tell you what: read up on "trademark", "copyright", and "derivative works". It could be enlightening, especially at your age. Expressing your opinion under the first amendment is one thing. Showing hints of commercial use (hint hint) is another. You still have a full life ahead of you.
Maybe he wants to get banned? He will then have an excuse to join the others calling widgetbucks a scam I wouldn't be surprised if they banned him for what he did to their logo.
