Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help me improve my sales page.

The product is a Suicide Warning Signs guide(http://suicidewarningsigns.net), so essentially I'm going for an impulse buy sort of purchase.

I think with the right sales letter, this is the type of product that should be able to get 1:50 conversions even from untargetted traffic.

So I'm hoping you guys could give me some ideas on what I can change to make it convert better. I dunno something along the lines of "you need to buy this product right now, if you don't, you risk coming home tomorrow and finding your kid dead'

First of all, you can't get such conversions no matter what niche you're marketing.

1 : 50 is quite a great conversion for most niches (only in highly targeted traffic)

Words sell ... that's how it works online. (In fact words sell offline as well)

Can't give you any solid directions since I'm not a copywriter myself but you can contact some experienced copywriters on Warriors or Elance.com.

A basic sales letter starts from $1000 up to $15,000 so you'll need to have a budget.

Yeah, 50:1 untargeted is impossible - 50:1 targeted (people searching using those types of keywords) is very good, and completely possible.

Hiring a copywriter can be expensive, and I think its also difficult to get some advice here without at least seeing what you have so far. I would recommend going away and writing a page to the best of your abilities. Try to get into the mind of your buyer, and always be talking about the benefits, benefits, BENEFITS your buyer will get from the book.

The sales page text is a little hard too read. Bolded 'Arial' font against dark background -- without enough spacing -- is suicide for the eyes. Change the font to something like Verdana or Tahoma and give that text some space to breathe.

Also, center the page so that it fits into a viewable area without having to scroll horizontally. Overall, the niche looks interesting, but I need to see conversions at that $49.99 price.

yeah I'm redoing the lower part of the page to the classic white sales letter, with all the proper fonts. And going to fix the sales letter to make it more urgent and slightly over the top.

As far as viewable area, I'm guessing you are using 1024x resolution. I think that should probably get fixed with the classic white sales letter, otherwise would have to figure it out since ~20% of all people are still using that resolution.
