I'm having difficulty getting my golf blog onto the first page of Google for the term "golf blog". Currently I'm on page 4, which ain't gettin it done I'm afraid. I have my main page optimized well for that phrase. I'm constantly building links with anchor text containing "golf blog". I have written articles on my blog and other blogs about "golf blogs" which contain links to my site. I've built and submitted landing pages that are filled with the phrase and links. Unfortunately, on the first page of google for "golf blog", lots of the sites don't have any fresh content...but for some reason they still rank high. My site is a couple months old, but I don't think there's any reason I shouldn't at least be on the first page. Anything I'm missing that I could be doing to get on page 1 for those keywords?
Well that is likely yer problem.... Page 4 is pretty good for a new Blog.... keep at the link building and you should get there. Unfortunately domain aging is likely why the others (less frequent posts) are trumping you at the moment....
Include the term "golf" and/or "golf blog" in the important parts of your web page like Title, header, etc.and also blog labels
Try a couple of posts on here http://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/forums//postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/general utilising your Keywords.
Thanks...that's a good looking golf site. I'm a member on a bunch of other golf forums, and all of my sigs have my site links and keyword anchors.
A few tips, Make your title tag 'Golf Blog, Tour Golf Blog, Golf News: tourgolfblog.com' In your posts, make the title a <h1> tag, followed by a short description of the post in a <h2> tag and then a piece of text (however long you wish) and then mid way through another <h2> tag which will briefly explain the rest of the post. GET MORE BACKLINKS! Idc where, just get 'em. Exchange links with sports blogs however one way links would be better.
