Could URL redirects affect me negatively?

    For my affiliate links, I want to use an HTML redirect like this one:

    <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.example.com/index.html">

    Do you think Google and other search engines could punish me because of it?

    Thanks in advance!

    I think google hates them. Your better off writing about the product or service and having link to it on that page.

    Thank you guys for your answers.

    I'd like to use a redirect, but if it could hurt my "relationship" with search engines, then I'll better do what chris265 said.

    If anyone else wants to share their experiences, I'm all ears.

    Just do 301 redirect using .htaccess. Its 100% search engine friendly and even looks better.
