837 page impressions 22 clicks and yet I get only AU$1.78

then with another site 15 page impressions, 1 click and I got AU$1.98

    all in the same day

how the hell does that add up???????

    Different keywords, different bids.

Gain some familiarity with AdWords and you'll understand why.

Since you didn't provide URLs there are several factors:
    1. placement of your ads on both sites
    2. niche(the 2nd site appears to be in high paying niche)
    3. low paying keywords in the 1st site...
always try viewing your own ads and you'll understand why no one is clicking... :)

There are a number of reasons for why your sites are giving you different results. Admittedly, your stats are really skewed. Possibly, you might need to look at how your adsense ads are displayed on your first site and how keyword focused they are. Are the ads displayed relevant? Are they correctly placed? Are they too visibly or are they visibly enough?

There must be a reason why people are not clicking on the ads on the first site. Is it possible that your first site is an unpopular adsense site?

You need to optimize it more, so that you can make the most of the traffic that is going through it.

It depends on various things such as keyword, clicker location etc.

    there are many factors:
keywords - high paying keywords gives your more dollars per click

the goal of the ads - for example : a site which sells product and advertise it via adsense, and a user click that ads, fortunately that user is attracted with that product and finally buy it. Then it might be big cash given to your adsense account.

Different ads give you different CPC, that's why you can see the different.
The CPC is not fixed but based on the advertisement

The 837 pages is on average $0.08 per click
The 15 pages is $1.98 per click
$0.08 isn't the lowest paying keywords out there.
I have received $0.01 and $0.05 clicks before, and sometimes none.
Don't panic or get confused because every keywords have different pricing in CPC

it all depends on the niche for pay rate , do not forget you are getting a percentage of googles adwords advertised on your site aka adsense. How much someone is pay for for a niche is how much you will be paid. Have horrible niches like celebrity, webmaster stuff, etc etc and you will get horrible pay . Now niches that are in high demand insurance, health , acne, etc etc will bring you in a higher cpc .

I would concentrate on traffic. The more clicks you get no matter the niche the better.
build your traffic up or build your network and more money will flow in. Use unique and original content
