OK is there a Digg for Dummies out there because I just don't get it. I did sign up, found an article I liked on my local news site and dugg it, then I commented on another digg article I liked but how does this site actually get traffic for me? I assume I have to do more than what I am doing.
If someone else like your article, they may digg it for you. The more diggs you have, the higher position your article will achieve. And higher position means high traffic, your site will be visited by thousands of people. Another benefit is that you get backlinks for your website even if nobody visit it. Those back links will help your site get indexed faster and build page rank.
Social bookmarking is like this: Imagine all the bookmarks in your browser available to your friends to use too. So when you bookmark a site with Digg, it means "yeah I liked this and want to come back" which is supposed to mean that other people would like it to and can see your bookmark. From an SEO view, those links can count heavy in your favor and your bookmarks can outrank your competitors. It's worth using.
