Please suggest ways to fix this issue on updating to the latest version of Wordpress. The error is:

    Unpacking the update.

    Installing the latest version.

    Deactivating the plugin.

Removing the old version of the plugin.

Could not remove the old plugin.

    Plugin upgrade Failed.

The best solution is to go to your CPANEL. Browse to www.yoursite.com --> wp-content--> Plugins. Remove the old version plugin and replace it with new version of plugin. Then go to your wordpress dashboard and active the plugin. It should work.

If possible disable the plugin from Wordpress Plugin Management Panel. Browse to the public_html/wp-content/plugins directory. Delete the Plugin Directory Manually. It will remove the Plugin from Wordpress Database. You can upload the new Plugin in this directory and activate it from wordpress Plugin Management Panel. Wordpress has built in functionality to stop a Plugin automatically which doesn't work or crash. I wish it helps.
