Could Kindle be affected by viruses?

Has anybody heard whether Kindle Touch can be affected by viruses? I had a problem when Avast deleted my Kindle 'documents' folder, as if it's a malware... I've heard that Kindle works on Linux and this is impossible, but who knows... Any ideas?

Never heard of anything like that. Mine is virus free as well. What exactly did it detect?

If there was a file with a virus, then that would be normal. The kindle itself is a extremely locked down linux and I assume getting a virus on it would be very difficult.
