Devs, Yes, they are alot of companies using WP to create their site, because of it's CMS [content management system] capabilities. They are tons of plugins out there which will allow you to provide a login and facility for users to upload a photograph.

Wordpress might work, but I'd say a php classifieds script (the one mentioned above, OpenRealty, etc.) would be a better idea.
I'd recommened you give Joomla a shot... its a complete portal script with tonnes of plugins, most of them being open source gpl. Give me a pm if you need any help with Joomla
Many thanks for all the info and feedback guys, its appreciated! I'm still struggling to find a decent script that will allow me the search functionality such as on autotrader.co.uk my users would need to be able to easily navigate between makes and models of cars within a specific area. If there's any particular plugins could you please post a link. Cheers
A classified script is maybe the best to go with and Joomla is good too but it ain't too SEO friendly, i myself am creating a similar site but i'm more on selling properties not cars and i'm planning to use Wordpress too, have to search the vast amount of plugins available.
