I know adwords is good for fast, instant, and targetted quality traffic... but it's freakin expensive. I am in the weight loss market, and the affiliate program I am promoting pays me the 100% commission which is like $20 per sale. http://xtremefatburn.com/Affiliate/ I'm pretty happy with them, but the thing is the weight loss market is expensive on adwords. Could I afford to promote a $20 product? Would you promote something higher or would you promote this? I need your advice before I spend money on adwords
1) What is your conversion rate with targeted traffic? 2) How much do you want to make? That will tell you a lot. The keywords are very pricey for a reason. Its a very competitive market. I think you could eek about a profit, but only if you offer actually converts. Good luck. -Patz
The offer converts VERY WELL for me with other forms of traffic, but I don't know about PPC traffic. People search on google all day long, and PPC cost for this niche is fierce. I guess I'll give it a shot and report back
Consider the content network or other search engines like MSN and Yahoo. Maybe even some 2nd tier ones. Just be sure to calculate your max bid based on current conversions.
If it converts really well... this is what I would recommend. Find some keywords with your keyword tool that get about 100 search per day, some nice long tail keywords. Set those up in your PPC campaign, and start off with really low bid, like .10. If your long tail keywords are good enough you might get by with just .10-.20 bids. So... 100 visitors is 10-20 dollars... if you have a good 4%-6% conversion you will do just fine.
The weight loss market is fierce and over-saturated. I think the actual expense can often be directly related to your keyword choice. Long tailed selections don't always have a lot of clcks but when they do get clicked on they often convert. Some advice on keywords that convert better than most, preface some keywords with "Buy", "Purchase" or "Pay for" or equivalent. Whoever does a search with one of these words is often primed to pay out! It is very tempting to bid high on some keywords to get more market share but you will probably regret doing this in the long run. If Google gives you high keyword activation prices then you are probably better off with dispensing with the higher priced words. Research, research, research and you will come up with unique keywords that don't have a lot of competition but still get searched. You can use the keyword tools on Adwords to determine these factors in advance. If your click costings are passing the $20 mark without a conversion you may have to think of changing to another product. Sometimes a bit of patience pays off with an ad campaign but watch your bottom line carefully! Good Luck with this! Dave.
If your getting decent conversions on other traffic sources then Google traffic should be equally as good. If your other sources are specifically natural SEO traffic then conversion rate should be about the same.
