Could I Do Better for £209 a month? Dedicated Server Wanted Maybe?

I just hit the forum (as you do) via THIS topic and thought I aswell go ahead and check to see if my deal is anything to shout about.

My server spec: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz with 2GB RAM and 160 GB HDD /400 GB BW on a managed UK server with a good host.

    I currently pay £209

I don't get a UK number to call for support but the email support is very speedy, and I've had help Xmas and New Years day many of time.

Been with this host since hosting on a shared server, then onto reseller, then onto managed dedicated and have just lost track of hunting for the best deal since not needing to shift around.

Been on this server for a while so a guessing it's getting old?

£10 of that £209 is for MailFoundry spam mail filtering by the way.

Look forward to some replies, some offers and some suggestions.

Could I get what I needed for less £££?

Note it's on Ensim and though the Processor is old the I have plenty of resources left and it is a rock solid server with no downtime or problems.

How much do you know about server administration? If you know enough it would probably be cheaper in the long run to own your own server. The first few months would probably cost about the same, or a little more, but once you pay off the purchase price of the server you only have to worry about paying for the bandwidth and such, which should be 1/4 to 1/2 that cost.

And run it from where mate?

I had a few servers at one point from Rackshack (Ev1Servers now I think) but needed a UK host. Been with this one every since other than for the odd site / customer requirements dependent.

I think you could get a better deal and I'm surprised there is no phone support with that price.

Check out some Dedicated servers with Aventure host.

Call them and see if they will do a custom deal.

I tried to use the contact for on their website and it simply asks me to login with no option to register.

I doubt they get sales through that lol.

And I got bored of waiting for their live support system to get an operator answer me now too. Yet their website has good PR. They must have a better design team than sales. ;)

I'll let them know the issues you had.

If you are still looking at this point try their freephone number and see if you can speak to someone.
