I understand that http://www.website.com and http://website.com are really not the same. However i was wondering if there was a way to make http://website.com automatically redirect to http://www.website.com. In other words connect the 2. - thank for the help.
yes, you need to set up a 301 redirect http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php it is always better to have the non www redirected towards the www.website.com please ask if you have any questions
If your host is 1and1 with no public_html folder you still need to create a subdomain www. sorry for 2x posting
I added the code the website said into the .htaccess file. But it didn't work... the page said Note* This .htaccess method of redirection works ONLY on Linux servers having the Apache Mod-Rewrite moduled enabled. wat exactly does that mean?
Your server is either Microsoft, Mod-Rewrite moduled is disabled or your server don't support mod_rewrite
Need to find out what your site is hosted on before the mod_rewrite redirection can work. I would suggest that you move your site to a Linux/Apache setup if you are not on one.
i'm hosted with godaddy, and its Linux. Actually i tried it again and now when i go to mqsource.com it gives me this error.
Are you doing this for search engine purposes If so google webmaster tools has an option to set a preferred domain under tools on the left hand side.
