Are you referring to things like worldofwarcraft etc?

I don't think anybody can copyright the phrase "World Of".. So I think you're safe... I wouldn't have any qualms about setting up a site about sailing and calling it "WorldOfSailing"

If you were to at all mimick WoW then it would be dangerous..

But using 'world of' totally innocently would probably be fine.. After all, digitalpoint cant stop you using the word 'digital' in your name right? xD

Especially if you area talking about general terms. No one is going to sue you for "World of PHP' for instance, but they may for "World of Nike" ,especially if you are selling Nike products. Nike is trademarked.

I should not think so, they cannot copyright worldof in my eyes, because you can have word of anything.

I will go with the majority here, as long as you stay away from the copyrighted product or even the direct niche (launching a RPG called "World of..." would probably be problematic). Otherwise I can't see any problem.

First, this has nothing to do with copyrights.

Second, there are certainly trademarks on "world of ......" and whether or not your usage would be trademark infringement depends on whether your usage would be infringing upon existing usage rights.

Yep. Seems "world of . . ." is not so original.
