So I set up google adwords (first time using it) this morning and I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't review it that carefully. Later on I get home and I do a google search just now to see if my ad would come up for those terms (its quite specific). Great, it comes up in top position and that's when I realise I've made a typo in the URL.. the display URL and target URL was copy and paste so both were wrong.
Should not be a problem as long as it is not a valid url. Google reviews all ads and will put it on hold since it is not a valid link.
I just enjoyed your somewhat technical URL rewriting blog post which is very informative and easy to read. The amount of money lost on AdWords would - so I'm guessing - be corresponding to your own feeling of stupidity but for the rest of us it's just a simple cut'n'paste mistake. Any body can do those Cheer up /miko67
Yeh I got to the screen saying they were checking it when I set it up and it seemed to go through. I'm getting (and paying for) clicks with it even though it's not a valid URL.. I was just very close to not noticing - it's hardly worth chasing them up over (only a few £) but had it continued, would I have been able to get my money back? Thanks miko.
I dont think you could have got any refund since Google will contend that it was not their fault that the URL was incorrect.
I dont think so they will refund you. Since its your responsibility to have the correct link on your ads.
In most cases ads go live on the search network right away without any human review. In any event, no, Google will not refund an advertiser for a bad url entered by an advertiser.
I've heard of them refunding money (such as when someone mistakenly enters $100.00 per click, instead of $10.00), but not for URL mistakes..
